Plans & Limits

What each plan includes, what every limit means in practice, and what happens when you hit one. All numbers on this page come straight from the live tier configuration, so what you read here is what your account actually enforces.

Overview

ChatGenius has five plans: Free, Creator ($29/mo), Professional ($99/mo), Business ($297/mo), and Enterprise (custom). Creator includes a 7‑day free trial; the others do not. Every plan runs the same core AI; what changes between plans is how much of it you can use and which extra features are unlocked.

You can see your current plan and this month’s usage in the portal under the Connect section, and your conversation usage bar is also shown on the main dashboard. Plans can be changed at any time; the new limits apply to the rest of your current billing cycle.

The Enterprise plan is custom on every dimension (volume, channels, integrations, SLAs). If your usage is bumping against Business limits or you need something not listed here, get in touch and we’ll size a plan to you.

Plans at a Glance

The headline numbers for the four self‑serve plans. “Unlimited” means there is no enforced cap on that feature in your tier.

A few core features are not in the table because they’re included on every plan with no per‑tier number attached:

  • Automatic multilingual replies: the AI detects the customer’s language and responds in it across 14 languages, with no setup. See Multilingual.
  • AI booking & calendar: the AI handles appointment requests, books to your connected Google Calendar, and confirms or reschedules on its own.
  • Analytics dashboards: conversation volume, response times, channel breakdowns, and lead activity, all available on every plan.

The sections below explain how each of the per‑tier limits above behaves day to day.


AI Conversations

The conversation count is your single most important limit because it is what gates the AI from replying. A “conversation” is counted the first time the AI (or a team member through ChatGenius) sends a message to a given customer inside your billing period. After that first send, the same customer can message back and forth as much as they like in that period without ever counting again.

Your billing period is not the calendar month: it starts on the day you signed up. If you joined on the 14th, your usage resets every month on the 14th in your account’s timezone.

As you approach your cap, the system emails you at 80%, 90%, and 95% so the ceiling is never a surprise.

What happens when you hit the cap

When you reach 100% of your monthly conversations, the AI stops responding on new conversations until your next billing cycle starts. Three things to know about that behavior:

  • It is silent. The AI does not say anything strange to the customer; it simply does not reply. No awkward error message gets sent.
  • Existing conversations keep working. Anyone the AI has already replied to this period continues to get responses (they are already counted).
  • Everything else still works. Your team inbox, comment triggers, flows, Content Studio, and broadcasts all keep running normally. Only AI replies to brand‑new customer conversations pause.

You can resume immediately by upgrading from the Connect section; the new cap takes effect right away and any backed‑up customers get a reply the next time they message.

ℹ️

If you are on the free plan running through your 50 conversations to evaluate, that’s working as designed. The free plan exists to let you wire everything up and feel the product end to end. Once you’re ready for real traffic, Creator unlocks 500 a month.

Team Seats

Team seats are the extra people you can invite into your account beyond yourself. The owner of the account does not count against the seat number. So “1 team member” on Creator means you (the owner) plus one other person.

  • Free: solo only (just the owner).
  • Creator: owner + 1 team member.
  • Professional: owner + up to 5 team members.
  • Business and Enterprise: unlimited.

Each seat is a real account someone signs into; you can assign them the Manager or Agent role, which controls what they can see and do. The full breakdown of what each role can do lives in Team Inbox & Roles.

AI & Knowledge

Knowledge base

Two caps apply to your knowledge base, and you must stay under both:

  • Items is the combined count of FAQs, services, and uploaded documents. 15 on Free, 40 on Creator, 100 on Professional, 300 on Business.
  • Storage is the total size of uploaded documents. 5 MB on Creator, 25 MB on Professional, 50 MB on Business. Free does not include document uploads (FAQs and services still work).

If an upload would push you over either cap, the portal blocks it and tells you which limit you would exceed. See Knowledge Base for how to organize what you load in.

AI Instruction Builder

The Instruction Builder uses Claude to generate a full custom‑instructions block from your description. You get a monthly allowance: 1 run on Free, 10 on Creator, 30 on Professional, 100 on Business. The counter resets on your billing day along with everything else. See AI Instruction Builder.

Image & file analysis Professional+

Lets the AI actually look at images and documents customers send (a product photo, a receipt, a screenshot) and respond to what’s in them. Available on Professional and above.

Automations

Quick replies

Saved canned responses your team can fire in one click, and triggers for events like new follows. Limits are 3 / 5 / 50 / unlimited across Free / Creator / Pro / Business. See Quick Replies.

Comment triggers

Auto‑DM people who comment a keyword on your posts. Limits are 2 / 10 / 30 / unlimited across Free / Creator / Pro / Business. The free plan’s 2 triggers are enough to test the mechanic with one of your most‑commented posts. See Comment Triggers.

Automation flows

Visual conversation flows have two limits: how many flows you can save, and how many nodes any single flow can contain.

  • Free: 1 flow, up to 10 nodes.
  • Creator: 5 flows, up to 25 nodes each.
  • Professional: 20 flows, up to 50 nodes each.
  • Business and Enterprise: unlimited flows, up to 100 nodes each.

The HTTP Request node (which lets a flow call your own API mid‑conversation) is unlocked from Creator and above.

You also get a monthly allowance of AI‑generated flows (where you describe what you want and the system builds the flow for you): 1 / 5 / 15 / 50 across Free / Creator / Pro / Business. See Visual Flow Builder.

Comment AI Professional+

Beyond the static keyword triggers above, Comment AI lets the AI write contextual public replies to comments on your posts. Daily and monthly caps keep things sane:

  • Professional: 100 / day, 1,500 / month.
  • Business: 250 / day, 5,000 / month.

Content Studio

Schedule and publish posts to Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok (publishing only; TikTok DMs are not supported by Meta). Four numbers gate it:

  • Scheduled posts per month: 30 / 100 / unlimited across Creator / Pro / Business.
  • AI caption generations per month: same 30 / 100 / unlimited.
  • Media storage: 1 GB / 5 GB / 25 GB.
  • Saved templates: 30 / 100 / unlimited.

Free does not include Content Studio. You can re‑use saved templates as many times as you want; the “templates” cap is how many distinct templates you can keep on file.

WhatsApp is included in Professional and Business at no extra ChatGenius cost. WhatsApp itself charges Meta a small per‑conversation fee for some message categories; we pass that through at exact cost (no markup).

SMS is technically supported on Professional and Business but is enabled per‑client on request rather than self‑serve. The reason is regulatory: US/CA carriers require a per‑brand A2P 10DLC registration tied to your business, which we set up with you. Email info@sumgenius.ai if you want SMS turned on.

Broadcasts

Broadcasts let you send a one‑to‑many message to your existing subscribers (typically on WhatsApp, where Meta’s template rules make this the natural broadcast channel). The cap is how many recipients you can hit per month, not how many separate broadcasts you can send:

  • Professional: 500 recipients / month.
  • Business: 5,000 recipients / month.
  • Enterprise: custom.

Free and Creator do not include broadcasts.

The 7-Day Trial

Only the Creator plan ($29/mo) includes a free trial: seven days, no charge, full access to the trial limit set. The trial intentionally unlocks several Professional‑only features (image and file analysis, conversation tags) so you can evaluate the full product before committing.

When the trial ends and your card is charged for Creator, the Pro‑only features used during the trial (image analysis, conversation tags) become unavailable until you upgrade to Professional. The data you created is preserved; the feature just locks.

Add-Ons

Two add‑ons stack on top of any qualifying plan:

SMS Volume Packs

Buy more SMS messages without upgrading tiers. Packs add to your tier’s base SMS allowance (so a 6,000‑pack on Professional gives you 6,500 messages that month) and you can stack multiple packs. Important: a pack does not unlock SMS on plans that don’t include it natively. You still need Professional or Business as your base plan.

Webhook & API Add-On Creator+

$29/month. Adds two‑way programmatic access: you can send outbound DMs to your contacts from your own code, and receive incoming messages as webhooks in your own system. Requires Creator or above. See Webhook & API for the full reference.


FAQ

What exactly counts as one “conversation”?

One customer, one channel, one billing period. The first time the AI or a team member sends a message to a given person in that period counts as 1, and that person can then go back and forth as many times as they like that period without ever counting again. If the same person messages you next billing period, it counts again.

Does the AI keep working if I hit my conversation cap?

Existing conversations from this period keep getting replies. Brand‑new conversations get silence from the AI until you upgrade or your cycle resets. The customer is never sent an error message.

Can I switch plans mid-month?

Yes. New limits apply immediately. Upgrades are pro‑rated against the rest of your current cycle; downgrades take effect at the start of the next cycle so you keep what you paid for.

Does WhatsApp cost extra?

The ChatGenius access is included in Professional and Business at no extra cost. WhatsApp itself (Meta) charges a small per‑conversation fee for marketing and utility messages; we pass that through at cost. Customer‑initiated service conversations are free from Meta within the 24‑hour service window.

Can I get SMS on a lower plan?

No. SMS requires Professional or Business as the base plan, plus enabling it with us on request (because of US/CA carrier registration rules). If SMS is core to your use case, start on Professional and email info@sumgenius.ai.

Do unused conversations roll over?

No. Each billing period starts you fresh at zero out of your tier’s allowance. Unused capacity does not bank.

What if I need more than Business?

That’s Enterprise. We’ll size limits, volumes, channels, integrations, and SLAs to fit. Talk to us.

How do team seats actually work?

Each seat is a person you invite into your account with their own login. The owner is free; seats are the count beyond you. Full role permissions are in Team Inbox & Roles.
